A Kurdish youth in Mahabad was shot dead by the city’s Chief of Police

The Chief of 13th Brigade of the police station in the city of Mahabad shot dead Shirko Amini, son of Ali Beigh a Kurdish youth at 11 am on Sunday 21 November 2005. The chief of police was disturbing a Kurdish girl in public, which caused Shirko’s protest.  The officer’s reaction to the boy’s protest resulted in the instant killing of the innocent boy bystander.

A group of young people protested the crime of the officer against the Kurdish youth and set fire police chief’s cruiser.

Since then, the military forces of the regime are controlling all the activities in the city and it is practically under siege. We follow the situation in Mahabad very closely, and will inform the public on any new developments.
