The Iranian regime’s violent behaviour against Kurds in Iranian Kurdistan goes on uninterruptedly. According to the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan’s publication Center, kurdistanmedia, a number of innocent  Kurds were killed by the Tehran’s regime in the last month:

On the 14th of April, 2004 a number of soldiers and officers, of Kurdish origin, serving at Iranian Training Military Base in Somar were sprayed with bullets by a soldier of Persian origin at the time when they were praying. As a result, 12 people of the prayers were killed. Three of them come from Sanandaj, capital of Iranian Kurdistan but only one of them, Masoud Shirazi from Serinjyana, Sanandaj,  has been identified yet.

On the 21st of April, 2004 a 23-year-old man named Khezeri, Mr Rezgar was attacked at by regime forces between Mahabad and Sardasht cities and was killed consequently.

On the 26th of April, 2004 a young man from Saqiz, named Sharifi, Mr Farhad was taken to the Security Intelligence Office of regime in the city of Saqiz. The following day his dead body was delivered to his father who was desperately waiting for his return.

The Iranian forces by committing the above-mentioned series of crimes against Kurdish innocent people showed once more the fact that they are very eager in implementing regime’s policies of suppression and violence in Iranian Kurdistan and that they have an open hand in killing the Kurds and that they do it without any hesitation and whenever they wish.

“In this regard, we do condemn those cruel crimes against our people. At the same time, we do urge the general opinions in the world and international human rights organizations to condemn Islamic regime’s cruelty and its repressive policy against Kurdish people in Iran. They are also urged to put more pressure on Tehran regime in order to end its inhuman policies against Kurdish people” continues Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan’s report.

I believe that human rights organizations in general ignore human rights developments in Iranian Kurdistan. Taking into consideration the abovementioned killings, human rights organizations and specially the U.N. Commission on Human Rights should not be silent on human rights situation in Iranian Kurdistan any more. What the Kurds in Iran desperately need now is instating a U.N. special rapporteur to monitor human rights issues in this part of Kurdistan. The sooner, the better.
